Fusion Bay: Fort Kochi. Best Food in the WORLD

There are some meals you eat travelling that you will never forget. We always try and eat local and traditional food when in different areas and I love learning about cultural food. In Kerala we fell in love with the spice combinations and coconut milk curries. Southern Indian cuisine is my absolute favourite. The fresh fruit, the coconut, the masala dosas! In Fort Kochi we visited Fusion Bay twice in a four day period. It is amazing tasting, high quality, and affordable.

The restaurant is not veg-only but it is very vegetarian friendly. It was rated very highly on trip-advisor forums and we decided while walking by to check out the menu. I am so glad we decided to give it a shot.

As soon as we ordered a complimentary coconut and pumpkin soup was brought out to us. It was spectacular. Creamy and rich but completely vegan thanks to coconut milk. It was big enough to savour but small enough to keep us wanting more.

We love to try lots of things so we ordered three vegetable dishes to share. We ordered Aubergine curry with coconut milk for 70 rupees (Just over $1 USD), Olan; which was kidney beans cooked with pumpkin and coconut milk, and vegetable stew which was also cooked with coconut milk. Notice the trend?

We also split an order of Kerala rice. I HIGHLY recommend ordering Kerala rice rather than jasmine rice. It is a local grain and is fantastic. The best rice in the entire world in my opinion, and i’ve tried many. It is quite fluffy, an off pink colour, and almost tapioca like in texture.

On our second visit we switched it up a little and ordered the okra masala in place of the stew as we felt the stew and the aubergine were too similar.

It is amazing to think that our favourite meal from anywhere in the world cost us a whopping $4 total.

Fusion Bay is located on Jacob Road in Fort Kochi near the Cruz Basilica Church.
